Completed just before legendary music photographer Jim Marshall's death in 2010, "Pocket Cash" brings us unique moments from the illustrious career of The Man in Black. From never-before-seen photos of intimate gatherings to iconic pictures of his live recordings at Folsom and San Quentin state prisons, this is a visual tribute to the legendary signer, and to his wife, June Carter Cash. Billy Bob Thornton and Kris Kristofferson offer personal recollections, while John Cater Cash, in a heartfelt introduction, shares memories of his world-renowned parents and reflects on the unique artistic eye of Jim Marshall. "Pocket Cash" is a covetable collection for loyal Cash fans everywhere and a testament to the talents of an extraordinary photographer.
Regarded by many as "THE rock and roll photographer," Jim Marshall's career has always been focused on the documentation of people, especially musicians. Unlimited access to the musicians coupled with an inviolate sense of trust between subject and photographer allowed Marshall special opportunities: he was chief photographer at Woodstock and was the only photographer allowed backstage at the Beatles final concert. Since he demanded total access, Marshall lived 24-7 with his subjects, and his pictures reflect affection for the artists as they describe the musicians' character. Marshall has said that it's no accident if his pictures seem musical because, "I see the music."
