Falling asleep on a table at two in the morning is not how you should be writing about Broken Hands, for the UK band that is made up of singer Dale Norton, guitarist Jamie Darby, bassist Thomas Ford and drummer Callum Norton seem meant for more revolutionary hours, for those hours when you should be able to see you enemy more clearly than you're seeing them here.
The band from Kent is made for the thrill of the night or that part of the day, when there's been one little spark of tension and there's no clue about how it's going to play out. It will play out though. It will become something and we're just all crowded around to see how everything turns. The group seems unafraid of big hooks, as well as psychological tales that penetrate with stormy steps. Norton sings, "When it's dark like that, it's never gonna leave," on the song "Stick It To Me," and it could either be a pop-up shower or it could be the next great flood that's coming on, ready to leave behind nothing but a bloody mess.
