Calamity Jane was a short-lived project, formed in 1981 and disbanded by the end of 1982 after releasing only one album. Originally containing a fourth female vocalist, Mary Fielder, this concert was recorded after the group had been whittled down to a trio. Playing a variety of covers and originals here, the group proves to be a capable country-rock outfit, with their three-part vocal arrangements on songs like "Calamity Jane," "Love Wheel," and "Never Say Never" proving to be higlights of the set.

The group would serve as a starting point for Mary Ann Kennedy and Pam Rose on their way to becoming a very successful country songwriting duo. Case in point on this recording is their version of "Ring on Her Finger, Time on Her Hands" which, in the hands of Lee Greenwood, received a Grammy nomination for Best Country Song in 1982.

All three singers featured here continue to write, record, or perform to this day.
