Liner Notes

We've fallen into one of those nights when, yes, we might be a little drunker than we normally get, but it's all working the way we'd like it to work, so there are no significant complaints to be made. It's one of those nights when you're liable to go stumbling. You might light a fire - one that could go out of control. You're up for the questionable. You're respecting the silence that posts itself up in the night, but you're thinking about puncturing it. It seems like fun, but you're going to sneak up on it, limp up on it and then make it pee its pants. Drunken Barn Dance songs are the kind that teach us how to do these things. They suggest to us the methods of beating oneself out of the methodical and heating everything up, making the full moon feel much closer than it actually is. They show us everything that's out there in a darkness that's not as dark with that full moon, where the darkness is deceptive, almost latent. This band tracks mud into the house and a trail all around, rummaging for food and that last beer that might be hidden in the very back of the fridge, as if they need another. Everything smells like wood smoke and there's a thought that someone's going to need to make another run. There's a thought about heading to the pond after the trip to the liquor store.
