This is far more interesting than the listing suggests and has apparently never circulated in any form. This was a private event billed as Party for the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame's exhibition "I Want To Take You Higher: Rock's Psychedelic Era." It was held to celebrate this upcoming exhibition.
This recording seems to be just the tail end of the event, but it captures the final two jam sessions, which feature two choice configurations of San Francisco based musicians. The first of these jams is tracks 1-> 4 with Electric Flag frontman Nick Gravenites leading the way. He's backed up by an outstanding lineup, which includes:
Mark Naftalin (Butterfield Blues Band)
Pete Sears (Jefferson Starship, Hot Tuna, etc...)
Snooky Flowers (Janis Joplin's Kozmic Blues Band)
Doug Kilmer (Blue Cheer, Copperhead, Norman Greenbaum & many other groups)
Michael Carabello (Santana)
Greg Elmore (Quicksilver Messenger Service)
The second and final jam session of the night (tracks 5->10) has Mike Wilhelm (The Charlatans) and Bob Weir (Grateful Dead) fronting a truly incredible lineup that includes a bunch of the same musicians (Naftalin, Sears, Kilmer & Carabello) but has Greg Errico (Sly & The Family Stone) on drums and adds two additional trailblazers of psychedelic lead guitar - Darby Slick (The Great Society and writer of "Somebody To Love") and Gary Duncan (Quicksilver Messenger Service).
