Save the Children was and is an international effort to offer aid to the most helpless members of society, be they in jeopardy from war, environmental or societal dangers. The ongoing strife in Nigeria, which Bill Graham called "... the Ethiopia of that era," was seen nightly on network television, as camera crews roamed refugee camps and sent back distressing pictures of starving Biafran children.
