The 22nd installment in the limited-run Daytrotter Presents vinyl series, this 180-gram, split 12-inch vinyl features Canadian troubadour Doug Paisley, and one of the great American troubadours, the late and great Phil Ochs. Paisley is a country songwriter who takes pains to get us into those gray spaces, those zones where a man knows not where to turn to find his salvation. He makes us hurt for his aching. It's a beautiful aching, one that you'd trim your tree with, one that you'd say a prayer to at night. He sings as if the yolks of the eggs he just ordered are running all over the place, causing tributaries to spider across his plate, making his toast mushy in the way that he loves. Ochs, a hero of Paisley's, was a protest singer from Texas who will beautifully make you feel some of the same things that Paisley makes you feel. It works out nicely that way. These songs are taken from his wonderful performance at the legendary Ash Grove in Los Angeles, two days before Independence Day in 1967. Get these while you can. Quantities will be limited. Thanks for the support and enjoy!
